Lowes Moore is the current Mt. Vernon Boys & Girls Club director, husband, father, Elder in his church and mentor to many young people. Lowes is uniquely qualified for his position as director. His work ethic, spiritual walk and character are all components that make Lowes who he is. As a young person he was always mature beyond his years and well respected by his peers. At an early age it was easy to see he was not just an average athlete and he excelled at basketball in pee-wee, high school and college. Part 1 thru 3 video clips are being added to the page this week. It was widely known that had he not suffered a severe injury he would be he next prolific point guard in the NBA. His vertical leaping ability is still somewhat of folk law in Mt. Vernon. I can honestly say that I saw his head above the rim on many occasions. What stood out the most about him was he let his game do the talking, he rarely argued a call and always seemed to guard the toughest opponent on the team he played against.. Jerald Hoover, director and producer of “Four Square Miles to Glory” a documentary about basketball and it’s rich history in Mt. Vernon, New York was quick to include Mr. Moore in his film. You can watch a 5:43 second clip of Jerald Hoover’s documentary at YouTube (type in Four Square Miles to Glory). Or you can watch right here below. Jerald’s website is www.jeraldhoover.com. He hopes to have his documentary on ESPN and/or HBO soon. You will hear folks like legendary sports
