<p>To burn the most amount of calories, one should use the most amount of energy working out whenever possible. Plyometrics is a fantastic way to incorporate quick, powerful movements to increase the intensity of your workout without sacrificing recovery or strength gains. Plyometrics helps to improve the functionality of the nervous system through the use of &#8216;rapid sequencing&#8217;. This means that rapid movement exercises are utilized to allow you to make excellent gains for strength and muscular power.</p>
<p>Plyometrics is generally added to workouts specifically for people looking for sport-specific training; however, it can be added to anybody&#8217;s workout for an increase in intensity. Plyometrics training uses a specific pattern of muscle movement; the eccentric phase of rapid muscle lengthening, followed by a short resting period and then the concentric phase of explosive muscle shortening. The use of the explosive movements is what allows the body to develop its power.</p>
<p>This increase in movement translates to increased calorie expenditure, giving your workout an added boost of calorie burning power. Introduce these exercises slowly into your current routine by adding one in per week to start until you feel comfortable performing three or four different Plyometrics exercises integrated into your workout.</p>
<p>Squat Jumps:<br />This is an excellent beginners Plyometrics exercise as it incorporates two easy steps. To begin, start in a squatting position. Your arms will be lowered to your sides, with knees bent and glutes thrust outwards so your thighs are parallel to the ground. In an explosive movement, jump upwards as high as you can go, extending your arms above your head. As you land, bring your arms back down to your sides and lower yourself into the squat position again. Then, without any pause, repeat the exercise.</p>
<p>Box Jumps:<br />Another lower intensity Plyometrics exercise, start by standing facing a step roughly 12&#8243; in height. Bring your body into a semi-squat position and immediately jump using both feet onto the step. Step back down one foot at a time. Once your second foot is down, lower yourself back into the semi-squat position and begin again. Try to not pause in between the step down and jump phases.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Plyometric workouts are exercises which utilize explosive movements such as jumping to increase muscle power. This sort of exercise can often be used by athletes to develop strength for particular movements. Just to illustrate basketball players may concentration on plyometric exercises which increase muscle strength in the legs and enable the athlete to jump higher while baseball pitchers may look at plyometric exercises which improve arm strength and throwing ability.</p>
<p>Speed and strength are integral components of fitness obtained in varying degrees in virtually all athletic movements. Simply put the mix of speed and strength is power. For a few years, coaches and athletes have sought to enhance power so that you can enhance performance. Throughout this century and little doubt well before, jumping, bounding and hopping exercises have been used in other ways to enhance athletic performance. In recent years, this distinct method of coaching for power or explosiveness is termed plyometrics. Whatever the origins for the word the idea is needed to describe the tactic of coaching that seeks to boost the explosive reaction of the person through powerful muscular contractions due to rapid eccentric contractions.</p>
<p>There isn&#8217;t any better way to describe the ability of incorporating plyometeric exercises into a conditioning program for developing speed, power and agility. Plyometrics, or &#8220;plyos&#8221; are a group of carefully designed hops, jumps and upper body exercises performed with great speed and intensity.</p>
<p>The important thing to understanding plyometric exercises is knowing how muscle contractions work. An eccentric muscle contraction is really a contraction in which the muscle contracts because it lengthens. Conversely a concentric muscle contraction is really a contraction where the muscle contracts as it shortens. Plyometric exercises are exercises which combine an eccentric contraction followed immediately by a concentric contraction.</p>
<p>Traditional weight training exercise develops strength, but seriously isn&#8217;t optimal at delivering the speed and power that excellence generally in most sports or basic activities demands. An option of plyometrics to develop speed and power above and beyond traditional weight training is the reason why this style of coaching a vital variable in almost any successful sports conditioning program, from football to ping pong!</p>
<p>Plyometrics is one of the best ways if not the best way to improve power. Power is similar to strength except that you are adding a time factor. Meaning that the relation of strength and speed is what we&#8217;re talking about once we talk about power.
